To be a donor or not to be? Applying an extended theory of planned behavior to predict posthumous organ donation intentions
نویسندگان
چکیده
Using a theory of planned behavior (TPB) perspective, individual intentions to register and discuss the organ donation decision with significant others were examined. In addition to standard TPB variables (attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control [PBC]), selfidentity and moral norm were incorporated into the TPB as predictors. Australian university students (N = 303) completed a survey comprising standard and additional TPB constructs. Separate analyses were conducted for both registered and non-registered participants. In general, results provide support for the extended TPB model in predicting intentions to register and discuss the donation decision with the exceptions that self-identity did not predict discussion intentions for either registered or non-registered participants and PBC did not predict discussion intentions for non-registered participants.

Disclosing donation decisions: the role of organ donor prototypes in an extended theory of planned behaviour.
This study explored the role of donor prototype evaluations (perceptions of the typical organ donor) in organ donation communication decisions using an extended theory of planned behaviour (TPB) model. The model incorporated attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioural control, moral norm, self-identity, and donor prototype evaluations to predict intentions to record consent on an organ don...

Due to the critical shortage and continued need of blood and organ donations, research exploring similarities and differences in the motivational determinants of these behaviors is needed. In a sample of 258 university students, we used a cross-sectional design to test the utility of an extended theory of planned behavior (TPB) including moral norm, self-identity, and in-group altruism (family/...
متن کاملA test of three interventions to promote people's communication of their consent for organ donation.
People's decision to join an organ donor registry and have a discussion with family about their organ donation preference increases the likelihood that their family will consent to donation of their organs. This study explores the effectiveness of three interventions compared to a control condition to increase individual consent (registering and discussing donation wishes) for organ donation. A...

متن کاملInvestigating the Factors Affecting the Whistle-blowing Intentions Using the Fraud Triangle and the Theory of Planned Behavior: An Accountant's Perspective
Nowadays, whistle-blowing is an important mechanism for detecting and preventing fraud. The purpose of the present research is to investigate factors that influence accountants’ intentions of whistle-blowing by integrating the fraud triangle components, as the external environmental factors that determine whistleblowing intention, and the extended theory of planned behavior, as the individual i...
